The Only Company in Aviation Aftermarket to Achieve this Certification
CHANDLER, Ariz. — AvAir, a leading inventory solutions provider in the aviation aftermarket is proud to announce it is officially Climate Neutral Certified. AvAir joins the growing movement of companies achieving the Climate Neutral Certified standard, the first company in the aviation industry, by measuring 12 months of greenhouse gas emissions, taking action on reduction plans, and compensating the brand footprint with eligible-verified credits.
Climate Neutral Certified is the leading consumer label for climate neutrality. It is earned by organizations that have chosen to be accountable for the greenhouse gas emissions generated in the production, operations, and shipping of goods and services.
“We are extremely proud to receive this certificate and be Climate Neutral Certified,” said Tyler Botthof, vice president of operations at AvAir. “As a company, we have committed to removing nearly 7,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions which is equal to driving 1,500 gas-powered cars for one year and taking steps to continue to reduce carbon dioxide emissions that are a result of the company’s and team’s actions.”
“Climate Neutral Certified companies are demonstrating immediate action on climate change is possible and essential,” says Austin Whitman, CEO of Change Climate. “Climate Neutral Certified brands have built a powerful movement that gives companies and consumers meaningful ways to act on climate—today. They are leading the way, taking immediate voluntary action to address their carbon emissions, and engaging their consumers around this important issue like never before.”
Change Climate’s certification label builds on internationally recognized standards for carbon measurement and neutrality. All certified brands must measure cradle-to-customer greenhouse gas emissions each year to maintain certification. Then commit to reduction action plans to cut future emissions within a 12-24 month timeline. Finally, certified brands must invest in verified carbon credits to compensate for all of its emissions.
In addition to this comprehensive evaluation and commitment, AvAir is working with the leading environmental service and solutions provider in North America, WM to invest, improve and build upon its sustainability strategy and endeavor. AvAir is assessing its processes and data to benchmark procurement, waste, water, energy, fuel, transportation and other potential contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.
“AvAir is modeling what companies can do when they lean into environmental commitments,” said Eric Dixon, vice president, sustainability & environmental solutions, WM. “WM is thrilled to support AvAir’s sustainability agenda, which authentically aligns with our company’s sustainability ambitions. For over two years, we’ve helped AvAir better understand its environmental footprint, from procurement and waste generation to transportation and utilities. This certification demonstrates how they go beyond measurement and continue to take action to reduce the company’s impacts. On top of these initiatives, AvAir has also supported the WM Phoenix Open’s Working for Tomorrow Fund®, helping finance water restoration and renewable energy projects on Tribal Nations land right here in Arizona. New Inventory Includes 1600 Wheel and Brake Assemblies
CHANDLER, Ariz. — AvAir, a leading inventory solutions provider in the aviation aftermarket, has built on its relationship with Lufthansa Technik Component Services (LTCS) through the expansion of the long-term aftermarket sales agreement, originally established in 2020. The newest advancement of the successful partnership has led to an impressive inventory acquisition of over 1,600 overhauled wheels and brakes from the Lufthansa Technik spares pool, marking a significant milestone in the two companies’ collaboration.
AvAir has acquired Lufthansa Technik’s excess inventory of wheels and brakes, encompassing components for regional aircraft, and extends to the complete range of Boeing and Airbus models, including the 787 and A350.
The first components will be delivered from Lufthansa Technik facilities in Germany to AvAir’s Chandler, Ariz. warehouse. The complete transfer will be finalized within the next 60 to 90 days. All parts are serviceable and come from Lufthansa Technik’s material pool and aircraft teardowns. Similar to the previous agreements, the material from this transaction will come with dual or triple release certification (FAA/EASA/CAAC) from Lufthansa Technik and with a 12-month warranty. Most of the parts were maintained by Lufthansa Technik’s component maintenance, repair and overhaul organization.
“We are thrilled to expand our inventory with such a diverse range of wheels and brakes, enhancing our offering for our customers,” said Brandon Wesson, president of AvAir. “Our partnership with Lufthansa Technik has been invaluable, and we look forward to the new opportunities this acquisition will bring. ”
The initial agreement between AvAir and Lufthansa Technik dates to 2020, with AvAir acquiring over 9,000 line-replaceable units from Lufthansa Technik’s global material pool. In 2022, the Arizona-based company expanded its inventory with an additional purchase of 9,000 aircraft components.
Following these earlier agreements, Lufthansa Technik will receive a share of the proceeds from resold components under a profit share arrangement.
“With this material release, we are making great strides in further optimizing inventory levels at Lufthansa Technik,” said Christian Ehard, director of USM Material Management at Lufthansa Technik Component Services. “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with AvAir again to enhance our supply chain efficiency and look forward to exploring additional opportunities by leveraging AvAir’s trade expertise and global customer network.”
Through this transaction, AvAir has enhanced its inventory with a broad selection of wheels and brakes for commercial and regional aircraft. Assets include Embraer E190, Bombardier CRJ700/900, MD11, A310, A320, A321, A330, A340, A350, A380, B737, B737NG, B737 MAX, B747-400, B747-800, B757, B767 and B787. This strategic enhancement of inventory not only solidifies AvAir’s position as a key player in the aviation aftermarket but also reaffirms the company’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its customers with top-tier, ready-to-deploy components for a broad spectrum of aircraft.
AvAir, now in its 24th year offers customized solutions for customers and suppliers to buy, sell, exchange, loan, lease, or consign more than 26 million in-stock components. AvAir will make the acquired inventory available for both exchanges and outright sales from AvAir’s facilities in Chandler, Arizona and Dublin, Ireland.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve been named a midsize finalist in the Phoenix Business Journal Best Places to Work! Huge thanks to our amazing team for making this possible!
A combination of low (or non-) utilization of aircraft during the pandemic, deferred maintenance during and coming out of the pandemic, and rapid pax and cargo lift demand coming out of the pandemic have all been driving factors.
A lot of carriers were deferring maintenance, often due to economic factors, and there’s only so long such maintenance requirements can be deferred. The carry-on effect is that there was a surge in demand for engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, which now has many engine MRO facilities at capacity.
“The supply chain constraints as related to component repairs have been improving over the last few years but there is a lot of future improvement needed in order to get back to pre-pandemic TAT,” Kevin Lenz, Senior Vice President at AvAir, explained.
“Especially as part of our Asset Management Partnership with GE Aviation Materials and our related support to the GE MRO Network, we see this specifically in engine LRUs and Accessories repairs where there are often sub-assembly parts that have very long lead times or simply unavailable at various component original engine manufacturers (OEMs).”
Challenging environment
Rising parts/material costs have had a significant impact on component repair prices. The market values of components have been steadily rising in the last few years and the explanation is logical. Higher parts and material costs and increased labour costs are passed on from the component repair shops to their customers, which drives up airline and MRO parts costs for engine builds.
“AvAir has taken a simple approach in this area: Be very attentive to market and customer demand cues and invest heavily on proactive material repairs in advance of the demand materialising,” Lenz stated. “This is a guiding principle of AvAir in support of its global customer base of MRO outfits including major commercial airline MROs, industry leading independent MROs, and OEM MROs like GE, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, and others.”
Current conditions
MRO demand is expected to remain high and often at capacity in the near term but improve in the medium term, as MROs get through the glut of current and pending shop visits.
“We’ve already seen supply scarcities for engine material arise recently, simply explained by a relative lack of engine teardowns in process compared to a few years ago,” Lenz outlined.
“There are fewer engine teardowns because engines are instead being reinvested into, namely by leasing companies, as the demand for lease engines is very strong. Fewer teardowns mean fewer parts on the market which puts upward pressure on pricing. In my opinion the material scarcity will be more impactful to engine MRO turn times rather than capacity restraints in the near future.
“I envision supply chain issues improving gradually but not normalising for another 2 to 3 years. As mentioned above, AvAir’s strategy of being in tune with its global customer base and market in general to understand demand cues will long continue to be a focus.
“This helps us best position and invest in inventories on a proactive basis to make sure we are able to support the demand as it materializes.”
